Neck or wrist: Neck or wrist. Either you did pinched the nerve responsible for the index finger in the neck.the other possibility is the wrist by putting pressure against the median nerve , but that will cause numbness to other fingers as well. If persistent see your doctor

Pinched nerve: During sleep many times due to position if limbs, there could be extra pressure at nerves to cause a variety of symptoms including tingling and numbness. Make sure you sleep on a firm mattress with soft pillows and change positions frequently to avoid constant pressure. If numbers or tingling spread to other areas, get yourself checked by your primary for some tests, as indicated. Feel better
