Broke my left 11th rib 5 weeks ago & injured adrenal gland, which now has a 3 cm hematoma that will be monitored. still in pain- is it the rib or hema?

Probably both: Rib fractures are notoriously painful because the fracture site moves with every breath. The hematoma is probably beneath the membrane surrounding the adrenal gland, which when stretched can be quite painful. Sometimes Lidocaine patch over broken rib site can ease pain. Ask doc monitoring hematoma about pain management.

Most likely the ribs: Rib fractures are quite painful and can take 2-3 months to fully heal. A hematoma around the adrenal gland most likely will not cause you any pain.
