A member asked:

How painful is the sesamoid recovery process in general? cast, wheelchair, boot or just crutches?

Depends on your doc: I place my patients in crutches initially and then wean them into a boot after 2-3 weeks. Some docs might allow walking in a surgical shoe immediately. You are removing bone, so there is no bone repair going on. Where the incision was made on the side or bottom may play a role in post op care to your doc.

Not very: Chances are you will need a surgical shoe and maybe crutches.
