A member asked:

Given that an eeg only measures seizure activity during a seizure what is the point?

Seizures: Head trauma with siezures with a persistant abnormal eeg has a worse prognosis than one that is normal. Also in between siezures some patients have clues of subtle abnormalities that help to exclude pseudoseizures and may point to more serious medical conditions in your brain. Often seizures are due to something else.

See below: Eeg will show if someone has a seizure even some time after the seizure had stopped. That's how the diagnosis is made.
