Can blood tests check for celiac disease?

Yes: Several simple blood tests look for antibodies present in celiac disease. The common test is tissue transglutaminase antibody (ttg iga). Blood tests are also available to test for the genes hla-dq2 and hla-dq8, which are seen in celiac disease patients.

Yes: Blood tests can be done as well as if an egd is done, a biopsy can be done that is more specific to test for celiac.
