Usually Next Day: The jaws will be sore for a while, but by next day regular pain meds (tylenol, advill, aspiran, etc) should be enough. The swollen face may take 2-5 days to return to normal. Protect the extraction site with rinses after meals and at bed time.

Depends: Depends on how you feel and what type of work you do. Someone who does heavy manual labor may need to wait a bit longer than someone at a sedentary desk job. Also depends on if you are taking a narcotic pain reliever and if that might interfere with performing your job safely.

Depends on you: Every surgery is different. Some are very quick and uneventful. In these cases you may be back the day after. Other surgeries require significant bone removal and are more traumatic. In these instances you may be down several days. Generally, when the bleeding has stopped and the pain under control without narcotics, you are ready to work. Older people will require more time than younger.
