Gastroenterology: If you haven't yet seen a gastroenterologist to confirm your diagnosis, it would be a good idea to do so. You want to make sure you don't have anything else causing your symptoms, like inflammatory bowel disease (ibd). Other treatment options exist for ibs, including mind-body relaxation methods.

Sure it's ibs?: Have you been checked for other causes of chronic abdominal pain and diarrhea, such as parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac sprue, to name a few? If not, you may need to. See GI md.
