Not bad: If you are asking about an "achilles tentomy" which is typcially done in infants undergoing correction for a clubfoot using the ponseti method, then it's not bad. Most do not take pain medications afterwards. For more extensive soft tissue releases, tendon transfers, osteotomies and fusion, pain can be significant. Anesthesia and postop pain control help. Painful: Luckily between the anesthetics and powerful painkillers and the infant's still relatively undeveloped sensorium, the after effects should be minimal over the long term.

During operations: An anesthesiologist sedates you so you feel no pain. Following operations you are given pain medication and usually told to apply ice to the surgical site. This is true for most operations. Doctors employ pain management protocols all to limit pain. Pain is perceived differently by different people. If you have a clubfoot.
