I think sun in moder: Ation is ok. But I am not a dermatologist. You should ask your family doctor. I do know that most people are vit d deficient.

Avoid extremes: Everyone's skin has a different threshold and level of sun sensitivity but in general sun exposure in moderation with burn avoidance should provide adequate vitamin d without undue risk of skin cancer.
