You can go blind: Glaucoma can make you totally blind in one or both eyes. Fortunately with the modern drops, laser, and surgical techniques, it is usually well treated and vision loss can be kept to a minimum.

Loss of vision: Open angle glaucoma causes an insideous loss of vision due to optic nerve damage. The cause is usually due to an increase in intraocular pressure , damaging the nerve. Nerve damage is permanent and cannot be repaired.
