Is it normal in infants for back teeth to come in before front teeth come in?

Varies: Usually the bottom 2 central incisors erupt at around 6 months followed by the top 2 central incisors at around 8 months. Typically the lateral incisors erupt next followed by the 1st set of molars, the canines and then the 2nd set of molars.

Time for checkup: Typically the 4 front teeth come in first, then the 1st molars come in followed by the canines. To answer your question make an appointment with your dentist or pediatric dentist to have them look at your child and make sure things are ok.
