Absolutely---: The dentist won't feel a thing! the patient, however, is on the receiving end--imagine pulling off a fingernail without being numb. Why would anyone do that? Same in dentistry. Getting numb is just not that big a deal--honest!

It depends: It really depends on what the case is. Sometimes patients with very loose primary (baby teeth) are ok with using a small amount of topical anesthetic . If we are talking about a fully formed dentition in an adult patient, then it would be painful not to use anesthetic. Although everyone has a different pain threshold.

Discuss with Dentist: This question would be one for your dentist. The ability to do this would depend greatly on your tolerance for pain. Personally i couldn't do it.

It's possible.: It's possible but i definitely wouldn't recommend it. The pain of the extraction would be much greater than any pain from an injection. If you have reactions to anesthetics there are different types to try but go through testing first. If it is fear of the needle, you can be sedated first and not even be aware of an injection.

General or Local?: You can definitely have a tooth extracted with no general anesthesia or sedation, but probably not without local anesthetic unless you have a superhuman tolerance for pain or unless the tooth is really loose.

???: What type of anesthesia? Local anesthesia, sedation or general anesthesia? Every tooth extraction will need local anesthesia even if general anesthesia is administered.
