Combo treatment. : If you have plantar fasciitis, and hurt most with the first few steps in the morning, the more you can do together, the better: #1: supportive shoes. #2: firm inserts or orthotics. #3: oral antiinflammatories (check with your doctor). #4: stretching your foot and calf. #5: icing (10 min at a time). You may also need physical therapy or cortisone injections.

Heel spur??: Heel spurs have never been shown to cause heel pain, no matter what you hear, read, or your doctor tells you. Calves that are too tight cause heel pain. Stretch your calves 3 min. 3 times everyday and you will get over it. Stretch your calves, save your feet.

Heel spur pain: In my practice heel spurs rarely hurt. It is the ligament called the plantar fascia that causes the pain. Orthotics help a great deal, but you may need nsaid's, injection therapy , pt , etc. See your podiatrist for appropriate help and guidance.
