Not sure????: Not sure of the question. Do you mean gum grafting? Bone grafting? Tooth transplantation? Not sure what tooth grafting really is. Please clarify.

Wrong question: Ther is no such thing as tooth grafting. Are you perhaps talking about gum grafting or bone grafting? In gum grafting, initial healing is usually a few weeks. Full maturation takes about six months. Bone grafting takes several months or longer to mature and continues to heal on a cellular level for years depending on the type of donor material used.

Short: A gum graft to cover an exposed root of a tooth usually involves taking skin from the roof of your mouth and transplanting it to the problem area. After 1-2 days you should feel good enough to return to work at a desk job. You may want to wait a week before perfoming heavy lifting or exercise. Most people complain that the roof of the mouth is the most sore. Talk to your dentist to be sure.
