Post-op Sensitivity: If the root canal therapy was not yet completed, there may still be some residual nerve tissue left. If the root canal therapy was completed, the tooth cannot be sensitive to cold, hot, sweets, etc. If you feel this, it may be an adjacent tooth causing the sensitivity. However, it is very common for the tooth to be sensitive to pressure for awhile from inflammation around the root.

Inflammation: There are a few reasons why this could be. The most common reason is in some cases teeth that have had root canal therapy are sensitive because the ligament holding the tooth to the bone becomes inflammed as a result of the treatment. This usually resolves itself within 4-8 days.
