Not likely: If the hoarseness were from cancer it would not go away even with cortisone treatment. You should consult your doctor to avoid further damage. If you smoke or use tobacco in any form, quit while you are ahead.

No.: Cortisone typically doesn't prevent throat cancer or cancer of the vocal cords. If you are concerned about cancer related to your hoarseness, you should see an otolaryngologist (ent surgeon). The ENT will examine your vocal cords and give you an answer.
