A few hours...: ...Or until death, whichever comes sooner.

Depends : If you are truly poisoned, it is a medical emergency associated with slowed breathing, hypothermia and potentially death. A alcohol-naive person may be poisoned at a level of 200 mg%, and that may take 15-20 hours to get down to zero, although people will wake up after it is down below 120 mg% or so. Higher levels (like 300-400 mg%) take over 24 hours to metabolize if they havent killed you.

Depends on levels: A naive individual who drinks as little as a pint of 80 proof liquor (chugging, as in fraternity/sorority hazings) may die with an alcohol level of 250 mg%. More tolerant individuals may need alcohol levels two to three times that level to experience poisoning. Alcohol is metabolized at 10-15 mg%/hour, so about a day would be required to fully metabolize a level of 300 mg%.

Alcohol Toxins: It depends. Small cases will go away fairly quickly. Extreme cases can lead to death. Many people do permanent brain damage from chronic overuse of alcohol, which cannot be recovered from. All alcohol, if consumed at all, should be done very moderately. Overuse is never okay.

Until death-call 911: If you suspect someone has alcohol poisoning (not just a hangover), call 911. This is very serious and they need emergency attention right away. Do not leave an unconscious person alone.
