Shouldn't be: Specific risks are 1. Anesthesia 2. Bleeding 3. Infection. Hopefully, if your risks are minimal in these areas, this surgery should not be a threat to you.

Not normally: If you are normal and in good health.Your greatest risk is anesthesia. The anesthesia risk is less than that of driving to the hospital.

Yes , but...: The main “life-threatening” risk we are concerned about with breast reduction surgery related to thrombo embolic events; clotting of blood in the lower extremities and/or pulmonary embolism are of concern with many of the procedures we perform. Of course, these risks are small but patients should be aware of them. Overall, breast reduction is one of the most patient pleasing operations performed.

These are rare...: But can occur with any surgery: major anesthetic complication, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, anaphylactic reaction to medication, etc. Usually, breast reduction is thought to be a low-risk procedure for healthy patients.
