Better leave alone: The wrist is a very important and sensitive part of the body. Important nerves, blood vessels, tendons, and bone structures are in the wrist that can be disrupted by surgery. Best to allow full recovery and manage without further surgery if possible. A good ot therapist can help you develop return of function.

Good operation: If it is for the right reason with the hand, it sound to me your surgeon thinking about delayed repair and nerve grafting for treatment of cut median nerve, those operations take long time to recover and you may have some revision in the future.
