Depends on cause: I inflammation has many causes including viruses, allergies, chemicals, irritants and bacteria. The cause determines the treatment. Therefore i recommend you see your physician for evaluation.

Dry Eye Syndrome: Dry eyes can cause chronic eye pain. If you also have a dry mouth & arthritis, ask your eyemd or md to evaluate you for sjogren's syndrome.
