Depends: Every plastic surgeon has a different way of doing things. I generally allow my patients to remove dressings and begin showering after 24 hours. Your surgeon will have specific instructions and reasons for them.

Ask your surgeon: It all depends on the operation that you had, and what the plastic surgeon did. Please do not remove the bandages without talking to your plastic surgeon. He/she may have placed tape, sutures, bolsters, or other modalities under the gauze. We have seen many a operation ruined by patients doing things that they were not supposed to. Please call your plastic surgeon and ask.

Ask Surgeon.: You will find that every plastic surgeon does things differently. Therefore, best to ask your own plastic surgeon. He/she knows exactly what was done and is ultimately responsible for your care. Best wishes.

The soonest you can remove your bandages after plastic surgery is when your plastic surgeon says so. They are there to help you.
