Depends: Socially--absolutely, since a common symptom of infection in the gums (periodontal disease) is halitosis, or bad breath. Physically, there are conflicting reports that tie periodontitis to diabetes and heart disease--both of which have health (and sex life) implications. The only cure for gum disease is extraction, so control it with professional help, or have the teeth removed, your choice.
