Periodontal disease is not gender-specific. In fact, married couples (or kissing couples) can transfer the bacterial that causes perio disease to their partner (or children) by kissing and sharing eating utensils.

Gum & bone infection: Periodontal (gum) disease is an infection of the tissues and bones that surround and support the teeth there are two types of gum disease:gingivitis is the milder form and effects only the gums, while periodontitis is more severe and spreads below the gums to damage the tissues and bone that support the teeth. It is the same for men and women. This requires periodontal treatment and maintenance.
