Do open fractures generally have little blood?

Sometimes: Open fractures, in which the fracture comes through the skin are commonly the result of high energy injuries. These injuries often cause stripping of the blood supply to the bone, which can lead to an increased risk of infection and a slower rate and speed of healing.

Dangerous injury: In open fractures blood seeps out of torn blood vessels and the gap between the fracture surfaces is filled up. Open fractures always at risk for contamination and infection.
