What are the options if antibiotics do not work for a tooth infection?

Need to see x-ray: If the tooth needs root canal treatment that would clear up the problem. If the source is a gum abscess, draining and cleaning the abscess might help. However if you have an infection you should be on an antibiotic.

Tooth infections: In order to resolve infections in the mouth, three key ingredients are necessary. First, the cause of the infection needs to be addressed (rct, periodontal surgery, i&d, extraction, etc. Based upon the specific problem) second, proper antibiotic coverage (dose, frequency, type) and third, the body's recuperative powers. Find the cause and treat it accordingly. Ask your dentist for options.
