Antibiotics, wt loss: Panniculitis is an infection of fatty tissue around the waist. In the short term, it is treated with antibiotics. To prevent it from coming back, weight loss or surgical removal is needed.

Medical vs. Surgical: Panniculitis is cellulitis of the abdominal apron or excess abdominal skin in the lower abdomen. It is treated initially with antibiotics and topical medications. If it continues to recur, a panniculectomy, which is removal of the abdominal apron, can be performed.
