Chronic pain: Identify cause. In young patients, there is usually a cause identifiable: previous surgery failure, disk, facet pain, abdominal organs, bone marrow, parathyroid disease . . . The list goes on. In the absence of any identifiable source (rheum, neurology, surgical, gi, endocrine, vascular consults all done and negative), then consider pain pump, dorsal column stimulator. Avoid addictive meds.
