Is neomycin-dexamethasone effective for pink eye?

Could: Maxitrol (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin) or neomycin-deamethason is a combination med that has steroid and antibiotic. Pink eye is viral infection. Using cold compressors and artificial tears can help with pink eye.

Maybe...but..: This is a steroid preparation. I would NEVER self treat what you think is pink eye with this medication. If the irritation is caused by herpes virus you could aggravate the process and cause permanent damage. I consider it a med only properly used under the supervision of an eye doc after proper exam.
