Irritation: It can cause irritation. It's best to follow the directions on the bottle and only rinse for 30 seconds at a time.

Probably not!: What kind of item are you talking about, a mouth guard or a partial denture or orthodontic appliance? We generally recommend that effervescent cleansers be used to soak oral appliances after scrubbing with soap and water.
