Could listerine cause cancer of the mouth or neck?

No: Listerime does not cause cancer. Now having said that, people who smoke should not use a mouthrinse containing alcohol. The alcohol can dry the tissue in the mouth and make it more susceptible to the carcinogens in the tobacco. It is, however, the tobacco that will cause cancer...Not the listerine!

Possible high doses.: The alcohol content in listerine is high. Daily use is using a very small amounts. Large volume alcohol users are at risk for oral and esophageal cancer. So, theoretically there is risk. But most likely someone that is drinking large quantities of it. Or rinsing way over the recommended amounts. There are some lawsuits ad studies on going to determine risks.
