With medication: Antiinflammatories, and Colchicine are used to address the pain and inflammation of the [acute] gout attack. Allopurinol is commonly used to control uric acid levels. There are other options available as well- talk to your doctor.

Food & Rx: Always talk with your physician about your care. Take your medications as prescribed. Eat liberal amounts of cherries, celery & (organic) blueberries. Avoid high purine foods: herring, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, baker’s yeast, brewer’s yeast, organ meats & roe. Significantly limit fish, meats, shellfish, poultry, asparagus, mushrooms, legumes & spinach. No alcohol use.
