Foods that may help: May help and prevent attacks: Citrus (vitamin C content). Water! to dilute the uric acid level. Coffee (lowers risk, even decaf). Low fat dairy (also lowers uric acid level). May worsen: beer, liquor, iron-rich foods (meats, seafood, some fortified cereals), and purine-rich foods all raise uric acid levels.

Vegan: Most gout is related to excess uric acid, which is produced when proteins are broken down in the body. Foods that are lower in overall proteins, such a as fruits and vegetables can help; they also contain anti/ inflammatory properties that can help with gout attacks as well. Meats and alcohol are important to avoid.
