Depends...: These rare tumors affect the retina, the main sensory organ at the back of the eye. Depending on the extent of the involvement of the tumor, the child will have varying degrees limited visual acuity.

Frequently: It depends upon when the tumor is detected. The earlier, the more useful retina is present and treatment is less invasive and destructive early in the course. Many with retinoblastoma now have normal vision and of course many only have the tumor in one eye so the other is totally normal.
