A member asked:

I have the skin disease hidradenitis suppurativa along with aching shoulders, hips, thighs, calves, and ankles. what are possible treatments to alleviate the pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several options: Treatments shown to be effective include antibiotics (clindamycin + rifampin), Infliximab (a biologic drug), yag laser, & surgical excision & closure with a gentamycin-collagen sponge. Other options include cryotherapy, pdt light treatments, finasteride, zinc gluconate, resorcinol, & acitretin. Joint pain will likely decrease as the hidradenitis improves, but there are separate treatments for that.
