Not initially: When you go for your mammogram, a radiologist (doctor specializing in radiology) will evaluate the images and decide the next appropriate step (usually ultrasound). Mri may be considered, but is not usually necessary for the type of abnormality you describe.

See your doctor: You and your doctor need to devise a plan. Mammogram should be the first step, along with a biopsy if the area can be felt. Other tests (mri, ultrasound, etc.) may be necessary, if above tests are not conclusive.
