Technique; no: Fasting state affects triglycerides. In other words, to accurately check your triglycerides, you need to be fasting. After you eat, your triglycerides will increase relative to when you're fasting. So a high triglyceride level when not fasting needs to be repeated while fasting. Only if it's elevated while fasting do you need to worry.

Need information: Fasting status does not affect HDL cholesterol or total cholesterol mrasurements. After eating triglyceride levels increase. Since LDL cholesterol is calculated (total cholesterol minus ( triglyceride/5 + HDL cholesterol)) non-fasting status makes LDL cholesterol measurements unreliable. I recommend re checking a fasting lipid profile.
