Depends: Often the best way to get rid of wisdom tooth pain is to remove the wisdom tooth. If the tooth has enough room and is just starting to erupt (teething!) through the gum tissue, keeping the area clean and staying healthy (and time) helps. If the pain continues, see your dentist or oral surgeon.

See your dentist: The problems may be associated with difficulty keeping the area clean or with an infection. I would recommend seeing your dentist to determine exactly what is happening.

See the dentist: First you need to go to the dentist to find the source of the pain. Are the wisdom actually present in your mouth or still in your jaw bone, or partially erupted. The dentist will determine if the teeth need to be extracted and then will do that in his office or refer to an oral surgeon. For short term relief, i recommend over the counter Ibuprofen and tylenol (acetaminophen) alternated every 3-4 hours.

Normally extract: If the pain is indeed coming from the wisdom tooth, then normally extraction will help rid of the pain. Need to have an evaluation and xrays to check. Often, if one wisdom tooth is causing problems, the other one's may also start flaring up and you may want to consider getting all out at once. But a consultation is needed with options.

Oral surgeon: For best results with wisdom teeth, make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon.
