Typical, not normal: Chewing clothes can be anxiety-driven, a compulsion, a tic or sensory-seeking behavior.Ot's & slt's often suggest a safe " chewy" necklace. Drawing with saliva should be extinguished by applied behavioral analysis techniques or other behavioral interventions. A functional behavioral assessment defines the antecedents & consequences of behaviors for effective extinction. A bcba provides therapy.
