A member asked:

Is it normal for 2 months after a cervical fusion for c6-7 to start having spasms and aching in the neck and tingling in the hands?

Maybe?: It may take 3 months to 1 year for a cervical fusion to become solid. You may have some symptoms during this time. It depends on what specific surgery was done. Your doctor may or may not have prescribed a neck brace while you heal. You need to remain active in physical therapy as well. Always talk to your surgeon if you are having new symptoms. Your surgeon can guide you.

See Dr.: You should follow-up with your surgeon to be evaluated. Good luck.

No: That is not normal and warrants re-evaluation. It could be a problem with the fusion or trouble at the levels adjacent to the fused segment C5-6 or C7-T1 - any of these could cause problems
