Arthritis: A scapholunate ligament tear will generally lead to a characteristic set of arthritic changes, ending up in what is called a 'slac' wrist.

Potential arthritis: S-l ligament tears can lead to arthritis over a ten year period. Before that you can have pain and popping with use. You should consider doing something with a hand surgeon.
