It depends!: A tear in a ligament can be mild, moderate or severe. The treatment is determined by the amount of damage, other injuries, and if the joint is now unstable. Your doc will discuss your treatment options with you. Make sure you understand all your choices. Take notes, too. Sometimes, taking a trusted person with you to act as a second pair of ears is a good idea, too. Have your questions ready.
