A member asked:

If a baby chokes and goes rigid from when he was born, right up to 2 months later on a regular basis cause his ribs to fracture.?

Broken ribs: The episodes of choking sound like gastroesophageal reflux. With the shaking episodes, this could be sandifer syndrome which is gerd accompanied by movements similar to a seizure episode. These movements would be unlikely to cause healthy bones to break. Any young child with broken bones needs full xra imaging to rule out abuse.

Not unless he has: Osteogenesis imperfecta , brittle-bone disease. The doctors are obligated by law to check his entire skeleton for for fractures, since there is no clear explanation & the site is a bit odd for oi. They will check for reflux with sandifer syndrome, seizures, lung, heart & eye problems like retinal hemorrage or blue sclerae. It all needs to be checked out. Bear with them; your baby needs their help.
