Consult IR: You would need to get an opinion from an interventional radiologist (ir). If you go to sirweb.Org you will see irs listed by state and when you click on your state, they will list by city. There should be ir near you. You would need to talk to someone who is expert in uterine fibroid embolization (ufe) and see if you are a candidate for ufe. Compare risks/benefits with surgical choices. Good luck.

What's the safest way to get rid of fibroids?

Safe and Effective: Lupron (leuprolide) (gnrh agonist) can control fibroids with medical menopause. Embolization can treat by blocking the blood supply to the fibroids. Both however, are not definitive treatment & may only improve symptoms. Surgery with an experienced gyn surgeon is both effective & safe and can be done laparoscopically (myomectomy or hysterectomy). Talk to your gyn to see which is best for you & good luck.

Depends: Fibroids that don't cause symptoms need no treatment. If symptomatic (exs. Heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, increased urinary frequency) diet/exercise (lose body fat) easiest. Medicine next (exs. Anti-inflammatory tranexamic acid, birth control pill). If symptoms persist uterine fibroid embolization (consult interventional radiologist) or surgery (exs.Myomectomy, hysterectomy).

Genetic: Fibroids are caused by a mutation in the cells that keep reproducing and from the tumors. They also grow in response to estrogen. Some fat turns into estrogen, so a good diet, exercise and normal BMI may help a lot. If your mother had fibroids, you probably will. Big ones need to be treated. If they don't both you, they probably aren't that big. www.drschapirointhenews.com
