Only if symptomatic: If hyperthyroidism is being considered because of wt. then there should be symptoms like excess sweating etc. Get blood test to check. No relationship to fibroid tumors which represent degeneration of the smooth muscle of the uterus.

Not necessarily: Fibroids only important to you if they're causing symptoms (exs. heavy menstruals, pelvic pain, urinary frequency). Many women with fibroids also have thyroid issues (both cause menstrual issues, fatigue, changes in skin/hair/nails). Thyroid should be checked on your yearly physical exam. If you are having any symptoms related to your thyroid you could have your doctor draw blood to test thyroid.
