Ask DMD or MD: There are a few syndrome where missing teeth is part of the combinations. But...Missing teeth is more common than you think. Check family history and see if others have the condition. If so and you know what teeth are gone then your dentist and orthodontist can work together to keep the spacing right so that implants or other types of restoration can restore the missing culprits.

Sometimes : Children can have congenitally missing teeth which can manifest in teen years or later life. Best to see a dentist for a panoramic x-ray to determine if congenitally missing or if tooth buds present. Also check family history of missing teeth. If congenitally missing, important to have the child have an orthodontic eval and maintain spaces for future dental implants.
