A member asked:

What does having an elevated a1c and normal blood sugars mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hemoglobin A1C: This is a rough estimate of average blood sugar control over a three month period, more accurate than a single fasting blood glucose (sugar) level, which may normal or elevated at any particular snapshot. In many tests, greater than 5.9 is considered abnormal, but you should discuss risk factors and prevention of diabetes with your doctor.
