Why do my toes get severely bruised when i broke my 5th metatarsal?

Two possibilities...: There are two different things that may explain this. The first is that you sustained an injury to your toes when you fractured your fifth metatarsal. Alternatively, you may have had some drainage of the blood from the area of the fractured into your toes.

Blood pooling: Due to the trauma & fracture blood pools in the adjacent tissue causing bruising.
