Minor pain: There are ways to surgically treat ingrown toenails so that there is minimal pain during the procedure and after. Regional anesthesia and good postoperative pain control can make this vitually painless. Go to: www.Orthodoc.Aaos.Org/footankle for more information.

Ingrown nail: The procedure itself is painless as the toe is anesthetized via local anesthetic. Post op i find my patients rarely take more than tylenol (acetaminophen) - if they even take that. Including kids
