Is there a reason?: Snoring in your case may represent an issue with your uvula, at back of your mouth, and this anatomically could be rectified with a uvuloplasty procedure. But one question does arise, and that is whether you do have sleep apnea associated, and it may take an overnite sleep study to sort out.

Find the cause: Snoring is related to either a restricted airflow or turbulent airflow that can be caused by a number of things, such as the position you sleep, the size and position of the tongue, soft palate, uvula, mandible, tonsils, and any problems with your nose. Depending on the cause, a number of options can be discussed. If your problem is strictly snoring, a pillar procedure may help.

This is serious: This has already put your close friendships in danger. It can ruin your marriage. It also warns of possible sleep apnea which can wreck your career, cause you to lose consciousness while driving, or damage your brain. If your personal physician can't identify a problem that can be solved, get a sleep study and/or visit an otolaryngologist.
