No best answer: The real question is what is the shoulder pain from? Is it inflammation of a bursa in the shoulder, muscle related or even a tendon tear? The possibility of a referred pain into the shoulder from neck joints(facets) or nerve roots is also possible. Finding the underlying problem is the first task. Then making sure your laying in a position that will not worsen that underlying pathology.
